Reuben Goodall withdrawn after massive Race 11 Qualifying crash
Tony Auddino withdraws sole Super3 entry after engine drama
Goodall set to join Tickford in 2025
The Dunlop Series field for the 2024 season finale at the VAILO Adelaide 500 has been reduced to 17 cars after a dramatic Friday.
Reuben Goodall and Tony Auddino have both been withdrawn from the remainder of the event with their cars unable to run for different reasons.
Goodall suffered a frightening crash in Boost Mobile Qualifying for Race 11, where he thumped the wall on the exit of Turn 3 before careening into the Turn 4 escape road and making severe contact with a tyre wall at the end of the run off area.
The Gomersall Motorsport Commodore ZB was heavily damaged, with the local rookie's final weekend at the team before he joins Tickford Autosport for 2025.
"I was involved in a very, very significant accident at Adelaide in the Super2 Series where my car sustained significant damage," said Goodall in a social media post.
"I appreciate all of the messages, I am ok, you may have seen the videos online, it'd gone around quite a bit.
"The main thing is I'm ok, but unfortunately it outs us out for the weekend, it's a horrible way to end it for the year with Gomersall Motorsport.
"The guys have been really, really supportive of me so I can't thank them enough.
"Apologies to all of my sponsors, supporters, friends, family, everyone who is out there behind me, backing me.
"It's a really, really poor way to go out, but we'll be back stronger and better."
Auddino didn't even make it out to qualifying, as his Super3 Falcon was struck down with an engine drama after Thursday's practice sessions.
Whilst there has been no update on a specific cause of the problem, it is important to note that the car also had an engine problem at Sandown which curtailed Antonio Molluso's Dunlop Series debut after one practice session.
The withdrawal of Auddino means that there will be no Super3 cars on track in the category's swansong, as MW Motorsport withdrew their Nissan Altimas in the lead up to the event.
"I am absolutely gutted to announce that we have withdrawn from the remainder of the Adelaide 500 round of the Dunlop Series, unfortunately the engine as sustained some issues which can’t be solved here at the track," said Auddino.
"I am absolutely gutted not to put on a show for all supporters wanting to see the last Aussie made car hit the track.
"I’m equally disappointed for all my sponsors to not get the exposure they deserve."
"We are going to sit back and relax and enjoy the remainder of the weekend with a couple of quiet beers."
Race 11 of the Dunlop Series will begin at 11:40am local time/12:10pm AEDT, with points leader Zach Bates starting from pole position alongside chief title rival Aaron Cameron.
